KIDS and UMCU Update

KMN UMCUKids Meal Network provides meals to children during the long months of Summer when school lunches are no longer an option. We BRIDGE the gap by enabling local churches to provide warm meals to the children in their neighborhood. In the summer of 2015, we provided 14,237 meals. Volunteers are the backbone of this effort. CHILDRENS TABLEChildren’s Table gives children the tools to make healthy food decisions. Our hands-on cooking classes teach children how to read a recipe, how to measure ingredients, and how to work with a teammate on the preparation. Many of the children come from homes where fresh produce is not a reality. In some classes more than 90% of the children have no idea what some of our more common fruits and vegetables look like, let alone how they are prepared or where they grow. SERVE— Call 412-330-7452 for information on how you can support this program with your time and talents. GIFT— $100 sends 4 children to a Children’s Table class. DONATE—provide sup-plies such as aprons, plastic utensils, plates, etc. to be used for a class.
